Welcome to the final edition of NASCAR Thunder 2004 Season Mode But It Uses Stadium Super Truck Rules! In the last part, we hit the three California courses.

In this part, we wrap up this experiment with the final two race weekends.

Rounds 33–34: Talladega Superspeedway Infield

This is the real Talladega Nights. Like, the Talladega infield race in this game literally takes place at night.

The Sunday round ended in rather… unusual circumstances. Coming to the checkered flag, I was battling side-by-side with Ricky Rudd through the tri-oval for the win. Out of nowhere, I ran over what looked like Ken Schrader’s hood and cut my tire, causing my car to slide up into Rudd. I bounced off Rudd and came down into Dale Jr. (ruining our +90 alliance) and triggering a hilariously massive wreck behind me as I somehow saved it across the finish.

Rounds 35–36: Tiburon Superspeedway

Ah, Tiburon. A track that is fun but also a massive pain in the ass since it’s easily my worst in qualifying.

How’s this for heartbreaking? With the title battle so close, Dale Jr. wins the pole for Saturday and leads a lap only for his engine to expire shortly after, effectively ending his championship hopes. I’m not even kidding. Also, I got dumped by Michael Waltrip on the penultimate lap while running fifth so that was rude.

And yes, there was a three-way tie for the most laps led in Sunday’s race and the season finale. What a way to end this experiment.

And so, my little experiment comes to an end. Entertaining and aggravating at the same time (since I calculated everything by hand as I suck at spreadsheets). Will I ever do another Season Mode but with different point systems in the future? Hey, maybe.

If anyone is wondering how the actual standings (with myself) went:

  1. Me: 5,516 points
  2. Jeff Gordon : 5,406
  3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: 5,282
  4. Ricky Rudd: 5,205
  5. Jimmie Johnson: 5,114
  6. Dale Jarrett: 4,997
  7. Mark Martin: 4,884
  8. Kurt Busch: 4,631
  9. Craven: 4,490 (yes, Craven finished in the top ten)
  10. Harvick: 4,395
